Wow, our statistics have begun to take the upturn! So many new member applications every week. Well...thank you all for joining our small group in such a rate. We have already reached 450 members. I am not posting any blogs at all, since the group featured pictures speak for themselves and as a dA user myself I almost never read any group blog. But from time to time, some word is needed in order to try and get some messages through.
First off, I'm glad to see that the group is attracting so many people interested in Noir Photography and great contributors to our Gallery. I think that everyone is doing a wonderful job. But...yes there is a little but in there...there are some new members that will contribute works that are totally irrelevant, obviously without having read any of the groups image & category criteria. The image rejection rates can get over 50% from time to time. Ok, someone may have not understood the term and may think this is just a popularity group and deviation pool. Others may think that noir is just black & white photography, anyway, they could be noobies so I won't blame them that much and I try explaining a decline as much as I can if someone asks. I used to explain every reason for declining an image but the images started getting too many to do that! What I regret though is declining a noir image because of wrong category placement. Well the category names are pretty much self explanatory, but there is a brief description in the groups profile page as well. Everyone, please make sure you read it if you haven't done so.
In other news, we got a new Twitter account! It's still a pilot so don't expect much but I think that the group deserves more ways to communicate with the more dedicated portion of it's members. Here it is:
[link]Finally, your suggestions ARE important. The group was made for everyone that likes/creates Noir works. I like Noir Works more than I create Noir works as of late, because I turned photography into my profession and I do more commercial stuff. So, it is not just my suggestions that pass. Every contributor can consider this group as his/her own and suggest anything. I am pretty sure I don't do everything perfect.
If you made it into reading everything above, thanks
